Nestled in between all the hustle and bustle of downtown West Milton is a sanctuary of peace called The Brick House Café, on the corner of South Miami and Hamilton Streets. It’s atmosphere is as comforting as the food, guaranteed to give the customers a positive experience.
Seated in the simple, yet refined front dining room of The Brick House Café, fit for all age groups, I was immediately met by a smiling server with a menu. There are many appetizing options of hot and cold sandwiches, as well as specialty salads, to choose from.
After much debate, I decided on a Deluxe Grilled Cheese, going against my standard rule. I usually don’t order out one of the few things I can make with my limited cooking ability. Though it usually ends up getting burnt, grilled cheese is on that list. However, this is a Deluxe edition made with Swiss and American cheeses, and topped with bacon, tomato and oregano on country white bread.
I also ordered a cup of the Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup, which came highly recommended, and is something I can’t make on my own.
The orders were delivered very quickly, and could almost be categorized as fast food, despite having a rather large lunch crowd. Everything was hot, and the sandwich grilled to perfection with an even brown tan. It was a color that sun bathers strive to achieve. The mixture of cheeses, with the additional toppings provided an overwhelming delight of flavor. I may have to start getting grilled cheeses out more often.
The soup was also delicious, including a respectable amount of chicken, that didn’t have to be fished for. It left me wanting more, once the final spoon full was gone.
There are options to fill any size appetite as soup can be ordered with a half sandwich or salad. A combination may be made to please the customers desires.
Prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly, willing to do all they can to provide a pleasant dining experience.
The Brick House Café, located at 2 South Miami St., is open 7a.m – 2:30p.m. Tuesday – Friday and 8a.m. – 2p.m. Saturday.
