A traditional teacher learns these things and so much more! Homeschooling may have benefits, but there is a reason millions of people are trained each year in education! Yes, the education system is flawed…but that is because of politics. Anyone with a college education claims they can “teach”, but that is not really the case. It takes a lot of educational philosophy, research, and subsequent training to shape the educators we have today! Education should be left to the professionals!

These “concepts” are everything a traditional teacher learns….plus a lot more! Children should be in a school with other children, if not for the educational gains, then for the social gains!

Our downtown community is too important to become fractured over this issue. All this talk about boycotting and bickering is not only going to damage the individuals and business involved, but the downtown as a whole.

We didn’t attend but were glad to see the crowd downtown. We were out multiple times during the day/evening downtown and didn’t see any major traffic issues. Whole thing seems silly. Hope they stay but agree with Gillis… toughen up a bit.

The city powers did not want it downtown, what part of that you do you fail to grasp or understand ?

If they don’t want it, some other community does with the crowds that will follow and boost their business.

The contention Tipp is experiencing is unfortunate to say the least. I am not against cancer research or any event that raises money for the cause. The question to me is what is governments role. It is my position that Government and the laws most basic reason is to prevent us from doing any injury to our fellow citizen. In a normal day business goes on as usual. When a road closure is required and a business or individual voices a concern that they will be injured. It is proper that their position be presented. Often our candidate turned elected official will take the populist view and not all voices will be heard. In the end all voices were heard and the event was held and a success by any measure. Now there is talk of boycotting in town. I respect your decision to to business with the establishments you choose but will add that it is a double edge sword and will only serve to divide us further.
