Seniors secure SWBL Share
By Brett Barnes
Milton-Union entered Friday evening’s contest with a lot to play for. A win would secure a share of the SWBL Buckeye Division title and a likely first round playoff berth, but even more for the seniors, this was the last regular season game they would ever play. They went out in style.
A Milton-Union senior scored every touchdown, and M-U cruised to an easy 48-0 victory over the hapless Northridge Polar Bears. Senior Tyler Brown started the scoring parade with a 31-yard touchdown on the Bulldog’s first play from scrimmage. On the play, Brown went over 1000 yards for the season 7-0 Bulldogs after Senior Nick Fields added the point after.
Senior David Karns added the next two scores on runs from 30-yards and 7-yards 21-0. Senior Joseph Thoele wormed his way 63-yards for another score 28-0. On the next Northridge possession, senior Trevor Klosterman intercepted, and Thoele scored again, this time from 6-yards away 34-0
Northridge fumbled the kickoff, and Brown added his final touchdown of the regular season from 36-yards away 41-0. Three plays later, senior Sam Niswonger intercepted the football and took it all the way to the house 48-yards to end the scoring 48-0 at the half.
With the victory M-U finished 8-2 and now waits for the final computer ranking in Division 4, Region 16 to see if and when they will be playing next Friday evening. Northridge ends the year at 1-9.
