January 18, 2010 Tipp City Council Meeting

At its January 18, 2010 meeting Tipp City Council will consider the following:

• A resolution to award a contract to Choice One Engineering for the design of the downtown traffic signal interconnect project. The project involves the replacement of traffic signals along Main Street, from Fourth Street to First Street, with state-of-the art controllers that will be interconnected to the City’s central system thereby interconnecting all traffic signals along Main Street. The current controllers are more than 30 years old. The City has received a $531,198 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement grant from ODOT with the remaining $280,352 coming from the Electric Fund. Construction would occur in 2011.

• A resolution authorizing a grant application to be submitted to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the Recreational Trails Program for the following bike path connections. First, extending the bike path from Kyle Park to the intersection of South Third Street and Maple Hill Road, along Kyle Park Drive. The second connection would be located along the west side of North Hyatt Street from north of Manchester Chase to Kessler-Cowelsville Road. The estimated cost for these two connections is $240,500. The City’s share of this cost would be 20% in-kind services and/or cash.

• A resolution authorizing two applications to the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission in anticipation of another round of Stimulus funds being made available by Congress. The two projects being applied for are the resurfacing of CR 25-A and the upgrading of street and regulatory signs to federally mandated high intensity reflectivity values along Federally Classified Roadways within the City.

• Legislation providing the City the authority to order the repair or removal of unsafe structures.
