Library News – 5/26/09

The first week of Tipp City Public Library’s Summer Reading Club is loaded with great events for all age groups.

HEART HEALTH FOR ADULTS
The adult brown bag program series opens with “Heart Health” presented by local business owner and fitness expert, Sabra Tomb at noon on Tuesday, June 09. Ms. Tomb has ten years of experience in the fitness and natural health industries. Her credentials include a Bachelor of Natural Health degree, and she is working on her doctorate in the field. She serves as the co-director of the Integrative Holistic Health Professionals networking group.

Registration for brown bag programs is appreciated. Bring your lunch, and the library will provide refreshments.

MYSTERY LOVERS BOOK DISCUSSION
Newcomers are always welcome at the Mystery Lovers Book Discussions. On Tuesday, June 09 at 7 p.m., the group will consider Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin. It’s a smart and sophisticated novel combining the best of modern forensic thrillers with the drama of medieval fiction. Registration is not required. Copies of the book in regular and large print, and audio productions are available at the front desk.

COMPUTER CLASSES
The library will continue basic computer instruction every Wednesday through the summer months. Up next is Intro to the Internet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. Registration is required.

SCRIBES MEETING
The Tipp City Library Scribes will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. Writers discuss issues, projects, and tips. Get inspired. Join our writers’ group. No registration required.

PROGRAMS FOR OLDER STUDENTS
“Create Your Own Jewelry” is the opener on the summer events schedule for grades six and up, from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. The library will provide materials, but bring along anything special you might wish to include. Registration is required.
Also for grades six and up, take time to stretch, relax, and breath at Yoga on Saturday, June 13 at 9:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to attend with their teens. No registration necessary.

AND, FOR SMALL CHILDREN
Three to six year olds are invited to “Art for Little Ones” set for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11. Participants will learn how to make simple but unique art projects using yarn, paint, markers, and other art supplies. Each little one must be accompanied by an adult, and registration is required.
