The following programs and activities will be offered at the Milton-Union Public Library during the week of September 29 – October 4, 2014:
Monday, 9-29-14 – From 1:00-2:30 pm the Crafty Listeners meet to craft, listen to an audiobook, and enjoy companionship with individuals interested in handicrafts. All are welcome.
Monday, 9-29-14 – Buddy Reading from 6:30–8:00 pm for children needing extra practice to improve reading facility and comprehension.
Tuesday, 9-30-14 – Tiny Tots, children from birth to age three (and their caregivers), meet from 1:00-1:30 pm for books, music, fingerplays, and fun at play.
Wed., 10-1-14 – Story Hours at the library from 10:30-11:30 am and 1:30-2:30 pm include books stories, puppet shows, crafts, music and games for preschool children and their caregivers.
Wed., 10-1-14 – Allan Clapp will be presenting a computer class on using Craigslist from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at the Milton-Union Public Library. Those wanting to learn how to post to sell items should bring an SD card or flash drive with a picture of the item. For those more interested in buying from Craigslist, come prepared with a description. Six library laptops, purchased through a grant from the Miami County Foundation, are available for program attendees to use and share, but those with laptops or devices are encouraged to bring them and connect to the library’s free wi-fi. Safety issues on using Craigslist will be an important component of this program, open to the public.
Thurs., 10-2-14 – Steve Baker, WHIO-TV NewsCenter 7 Northern Bureau Chief, will be speaking at the Milton-Union Public Library at 6:30 pm, Thursday, October 2nd , 2014, immediately after the brief October Friends meeting at 6:00 pm. Mr. Baker started his broadcast career in 1970 at WPTW Radio in Piqua, Ohio and is still bringing the public news from Miami, Darke, Mercer, and Shelby Counties. The “Dean” of local broadcasting, Mr. Baker will share stories and experiences from his almost 35 years of work in the industry. Mr. Baker was inducted into the Dayton Area Broadcast Hall of Fame in 2011. The Friends welcome everyone to attend this informative and entertaining program.
