Join Girls on the Run of Dayton for a fun girls day out and learn how to live outside of the “girl box”! Just in time for Mother’s Day, Girls on the Run of Dayton will host a Mother and Daughter Tea on May 16 at 2 p.m.at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. The Tea offers area families the chance to learn more about this exciting new organization focused on preparing girls for a life of self-respect and healthy choices. Refreshments and activities will be provided, including discounted access to the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery. Guests are encouraged to have fun and dress in their best “tea” attire.

Girls on the Run, a national non-profit organization founded in 1996, will kick-off their first session this fall in Montgomery County. At the end of the 12-week program, all participants walk or run a 5k (3.1 mile) event. Girls on the Run International is the parent organization to more than 150 councils across North America, serving over 40,000 girls annually. The mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Girls on the Run focuses on educating third through eighth grade girls on developing a healthy self-image and discovering a life that is free of the “Girl Box” where they can say, “I belong just the way I am.”
