Ohio Galaxies FC partners with Dayton Sports Medicine

Woody Goffinett, Manager of Sports Medicine for Dayton Sports Medicine Institute (a branch of the Kettering Health Network), said “Bryan is looking forward to providing healthcare for the Ohio Galaxies Soccer Club.  He has treated athletes at all levels and understands the total healthcare of athletics”. Bryan graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a B.S. in Kinesiology in 1997.  He obtained his Master’s degree in Kinesiology/ Sports Medicine emphasizing in Athletic Training in 1999 at The University of Tennessee.  Bryan is also an Ohio Emergency Medical Technician.

Bryan has worked in multiple levels of athletic training throughout his career.   Starting in the college, he spent 5 years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at his Alma Mater Tennessee Tech University.  He then moved on to become the Head Athletic Trainer for the professional Hockey team in Dayton Ohio.  He spent 7 years as the Head Athletic Trainer of the Dayton Bombers/ Dayton Gems hockey clubs.  Bryan was the recipient of the Athletic Trainer of the Year award on 2 separate occasions, 2009 and 2012.  After his hockey career, he moved back into an area of practice that was always a passion of his.  Bryan served in the Army from 1990 to 1993.With his military background; his endeavors have allowed him to now be a Tactical Medic for the local Kettering Regional SWAT Team.  Along with that position, he is a full time Athletic Trainer for the Dayton Sports Medicine Institute.  He is married to Kerensa Rogers and has two daughters, Jordan 10, and Megan 5.

Bryan’s responsibilities will include monitoring athletes during training sessions to ensure a safe training environment, help athletes through any current and past injuries, be a resource to parents and players with athletic injuries and provide guidance with the new Concussion laws for participating athletes.

Nancy Shields, President of OGFC welcomes Bryan, “Ohio Galaxies FC is excited about the opportunity to partner with DSMI in the care and treatment of our club players.  Our program believes in the importance of providing onsite evaluation and monitoring of sports injuries for our players and the opportunity to have Bryan join our staff is just another aspect of our continuing efforts to provide the best soccer program possible for our members”. Bryan started with his responsibilities on May 13th.
