Tipp City Boards and Commissions

The City of Tipp City is seeking interested citizens to serve on the following Boards.

Board of Tax Appeals (3 vacancies) This Board meets as needed to hear appeals filed by citizens concerning tax assessments. Members are appointed for one-year terms.

Board of Zoning Appeals (2 vacancies) This five-member board is responsible for hearing and determining appeals from administrative decisions, petitions for variances in the case of peculiar and unusual circumstances and hardships which would prevent the reasonable use of land, and other matters as may be requested by City Council. Members are appointed to serve three-year terms. The BZA meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Building Standards Board of Review (2 vacancies) Members meet as needed and serve five year terms expiring March 31st.

Cable Access Commission (1 vacancy) The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Township Building to determine the type of programming to be permitted, review specific programs, and otherwise maintain primary responsibility for the local access station. Members are appointed for two year terms expiring April 30th.

Parks Advisory Board (2 vacancies) The Board consists of eight members, including five regular voting members and three ex-officio non-voting members. Five voting members of the Committee shall be appointed by City Council for staggered four year terms without limit. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the odd months of the year.

Planning Board (1 vacancy) The Board consists of five qualified electors of the municipality. All members are appointed by City Council to serve three year terms. Board members may serve four consecutive full or partial terms. This partial term vacancy expires on December 31st, 2011. The Planning Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Restoration & Architectural Review Board (4 vacancies) This Board is responsible for reviewing plans for construction, alteration, repair, moving and demolition of structures in the Old Tippecanoe Historic District. The Board also serves in an advisory capacity to both property owners within the Historic District as well as Planning Board and City Council. Members of the Restoration Board serve three year terms and must be a resident of the City with some relationship or interest in the Historic District or a non-resident who owns property in the District. The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Government Center.

Tree Board (1 vacancy) This Board will study, investigate, and counsel; develop or update annually, and administer a written plan for the care, preservation, pruning, planting, replanting, removal, or disposition of trees and shrubs in parks, along streets, and in other public areas. The Board, when requested by City Council, shall consider, investigate, make finding, report, and recommend upon any special matter of question coming within the scope of its work. Members serve three-year terms. This board meets on the second Wednesday of the even months of the year at 5:15 p.m.

Citizens who wish to be considered for any Board or Commissions must complete an application and submit it to the Clerk of Council by December 1, 2009. Applications are available online at www.tippcityohio.gov or at the Government Center located at 260 South Garber Drive, Tipp City.
