Tipp Public Library Announces New Director Tipp City, OH, March 3, 2016 --The Tipp City Public Library’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Lisa Santucci has been selected to be the new Director of the Library. Ms. Santucci comes to the Library after spending more than 20 years in the Miami University Library system in Oxford, Ohio, currently serving as Assistant Dean for Instruction and Emerging Technologies. A resident of Tipp City since the late 1990’s, Ms. Santucci is excited to become “the face of the Library” and to invigorate its downtown presence. Her vision includes participating in more of the activities that downtown Tipp City hosts and showcasing the Library to not only those new to the community, but also those who have spent their entire lives here. "We are extremely excited to bring Lisa in as Director. Her Library knowledge alone will be an asset for the patrons and staff, and her passion to make this Library the best it can be will elevate the great work our staff is already doing,” says Matt Tarzinski, President of the Tipp City Library Board of Trustees. “She brings a new level of experience and fresh ideas from one of the best academic libraries in the country.” Ms. Santucci will begin her duties on April 11, 2016, just in time to celebrate National Library Week. The Library will have special activities planned for that week, and information about those will be available on their website, www.tippcitylibrary.org. The Tipp City Library began in 1923 as a collection of 1,500 books on the second floor of the old City Building, staffed only by volunteers. It was originally funded by the Women's Civic Club, and then by local taxes in 1926, becoming a City Library. In 1950, the land at the library's current location was donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, after which neighboring properties were purchased. The Library was dedicated at its present location, 11 E. Main Street, in 1962. A children's room was added in 1982, and the building went through another renovation creating the adult fiction and teen areas in 1991, with the teen area completed in 1996. Currently, the Library collection consists of more than 70,000 books, 3,000 movies, and 1,600 books on CD, plus over 90 periodical titles. The Tipp City Public Library has been truly lucky in their caring and community-minded staff. Past Directors include: Ann Shaffer, Lulu Cottingham, Catherine Kessler, Florence Cook, Caroline Weaver, Nancy Stottman McAlpin, Pat Liening, Mark Mabelitini, and, since 2011, Anthony Orsini.
