Train Derails In Tipp City – News Story – WHIO Dayton
TIPP CITY, Ohio — Authorities in Tipp City said a train has derailed shutting down parts of a couple of local roadways.

The derailment happened around 7:25 a.m. Saturday. Officers responded to the scene and discovered that eight cars had jumped the track.

According to police, there were two hazmat cars on the train, but the cars were intact and there was no threat of any hazardous materials leaking.

Investigators said the train cars that derailed were carrying new cars. They said six of the eight train cars were laid over and that two others had jumped the track.

The derailment has blocked Crane Road and Park Ave. in Tipp City, which is causing traffic to be rerouted.

Heavy equipment is in Tipp City attempting to clear the wreckage and replace damaged rails as quickly as possible in order to reopen this major north-south CSX corridor to rail traffic. About 40 trains a day travel these tracks.

The derailment remains under investigation.
