Mainstreet Preschool Celebrates Christmas

The students at Mainstreet Preschool, located in downtown Tipp City, had special reason to be joyful today. They invited their parents and friends to their annual Christmas program that included caroling, dancing and a bit of storytelling. The program was performed within the Great Hall within the Tipp City United Methodist Church at the corner of Main St. and South Third Streets downtown.

Prior to the beginning of the program a special thanks was given to Judy Riesser who will be stepping down from the Mainstreet Preschool board this year. Judy is the founder of Mainstreet Preschool, and the major impetus towards providing the curriculum that offers a nurturing and christian environment to enhance social skills and hands-on experiences which allow children to use curiosity and creativity while also expanding interests in math, science, language, art and music.

Chris Farmer, pastor of the Tipp City United Methodist Church welcomed all of the parents and guests and provided a holiday invocation.

Mrs. Collins, Director of Mainstreet and teacher of the morning pre-K classes read from A Wish to be a Christmas Tree by Colleen Monroe and illustrated by Michael Glenn Monroe. The storytelling was highlighted with carols sung by the children in the Shining Stars, Awesome Acorns, Busy Bees, Terriffic Tots and Curious Cubs classes. Parents were entertained with O’ Christmas Tree, We’ll Decorate the Tree, Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star and for the grand finale.. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree!

Refreshments were available in the Gathering Area and children and parents were invited back to the classroom areas for special Christmas themed crafts and activities including (my favorite) making bird feeders from pinecones, peanut butter and seeds.

The staff of Mainstreet Preschool, Suzanne Collins, Lori Jans, Melissa Tarzinski, Suzy Wyant and Jan Haley wanted to wish all of the children and families of Mainstreet Preschool a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
