West Milton Rotary April 18, 2011

Bob Johnston, program host, invited Paul Huelskamp, the new Miami County Engineer, as our guest speaker at the April 18 West Milton Rotary Club meeting. Paul was accompanied by Dick Wagar, special projects coordinator.

Paul told the Rotarians about the upcoming Bridge Levy on May 3. It is a 0.45 mill renewal for the purpose of construction, reconstruction, resurfacing and repair of bridges in the county for 5 years, commencing in 2011. Paul provided many statistics and history of the bridge levy, first passed in 1951.There are 3035 bridges and culverts in the county and 585 bridges have been replaced over the years. This levy is the major source of funding for our county bridges and is important to renew.
