Received a note from your Christmas guests, and they asked if we’d pass it along to you… so here you go.

Hi there!

Hope you’re doing well. Can’t believe it’s been so cold already; winter is definitely on the way!   We’re all ok here, just can’t wait to see you!

Hey, I’m a little worried.  I heard through the grapevine that you’ve been racing around, generally stressing about trying to get everything done.

Let me reassure you, we don’t expect you to decorate like you’re going to be featured on HGTV — unless, of course, you are!   Don’t slave away for days before we arrive preparing, and while we are there, please, relax and spend some time with us.  The food and gifts don’t have to be anything elaborate.

Now we are all aware that you love that one part of preparing for Christmas, and that you’ll go overboard there, and since you enjoy it so much have at it.  But as for all those not-so-secret parts that we both know that you are dreading, just give it a lick and a promise and then let it go.  We’re not coming to check your work and see if you got it all done, we’re coming to enjoy your company.

I know you’ve had your ups and downs this year, but we all have.  We’ve survived and we’re stronger for it, and now we get to celebrate another holiday season together.  It’s a time we can’t help but think of those we miss and reminisce, but don’t forget to think of the good times, and all those things that make you smile.

You work so hard to get ready for the holidays, and we are looking forward to seeing you happy and well, not frazzled and worn out.   So you choose what really needs done and what doesn’t. The only thing we’re really hoping won’t be left out is the birthday cake.  It just wouldn’t be Christmas if we can’t blow out those candles to celebrate Christ’s birth.

Can’t wait to see you!  With love,

Your family and friends

PS If there’s something that you want us to bring, please let me know.  You know deep down we don’t mind, we want to help, it makes us feel good, too!
