The Tippecanoe Middle School wrestling team traveled to West Milton on December 4th & 5th to compete in the Jr. Bulldog Wrestling Tournament. The team came away with Tippecanoe’s first ever team title totaling 175 ½ points.  I started coaching at Tippecanoe in the middle school seven years ago. While there, I saw our kids coming in that I had no idea what wrestling was about and what it took to compete in the sport. We had kids coming out just to see what it was about and if they would like it. While their opponents had been competing in area youth programs for years. Our kids found it very difficult to compete and would usually stop wrestling. When I was named head wrestling coach at the high school the first thing I did was rejuvenate the youth wrestling program here in Tipp. This middle school team is the first wave of kids who have wrestled several years in the club and it looks like it will be paying big dividends in the future for Tippecanoe Wrestling. Obviously, those volunteers who have come in to run and coach the youth club have done an excellent job of preparing our future wrestlers for the next level.
