Has anyone heard of the comedian, screenwriter and producer, Albert Brooks? Of course we have but did we know he could write a book? Well, he did and it was thought provoking. As interesting as it was disturbing about the future of America, I found we had a lot to discuss at book club! It definitely made me think about what 2030 would be like…and (to get political for a minute) the importance of our vote.
What will the United States of America be like in 2030? How much control will the government have? Will there be a massive earthquake in Los Angeles? Will we be “partners” with China where they own part of a city in America? Will people be able to live a long, long time due to the cures of diseases that ail us now – like cancer? Will the younger generation of people be mad that they have to support people are living longer (aka “The Olds”)…??? I could definitely see some of these things happening, however, there were times in the book that I thought it was a bit unrealistic.
One of the last parts of the book was a look into the real estate world in 2030….buying and selling homes completely virtual. Interesting for sure since I work in the real estate world.
What do you think America will be like in 2030?
