How to Contribute

Would you like to play a role in the process of collecting, reporting, analyzing and disseminating news and information in Tipp City?
The TippNews DAILY is currently looking for citizen journalists who can provide independent, reliable, accurate, wide-ranging and relevant information that we can then offer up to our community.

“The idea behind citizen journalism is that people without professional journalism training can use the tools of modern technology and the global distribution of the Internet to create, augment or fact-check media on their own or in collaboration with others. For example, you might write about a city council meeting on your blog or in an online forum. Or you could fact-check a newspaper article from the mainstream media and point out factual errors or bias on your blog. Or you might snap a digital photo of a newsworthy event happening in your town and post it online. Or you might videotape a similar event and post it on a site such as YouTube.” – Mark Glasier, freelance new media journalist

TippNews DAILY Citizen Journalist Qualifications

  • Must be a Resident or owner of a business in Tipp City or Bethel Township
  • Citizen Journalists must understand and follow the TippNews DAILY Editorial Guidelines

Pretty simple eh?
So go ahead and REGISTER HERE and then submit to us posts that capture the essence of life in Tipp City. Our Schools, our Neighborhoods, our competitive sports programs, our Businesses, we want you to share what is important to you with your fellow Tipp City residents.

If the whole idea of logging into a website and typing your thoughts into it and clicking “Save” seems too much for you, we do accept articles submitted by email to this address: editor@tippnews.com

Editorial Changes

The TippNews DAILY reserves the right to correct grammar/spelling mistakes when they significantly degrade the readability of the post. Posts submitted without a photo or video may have one added by our editorial staff in order to add interest and illustrate the posting. We reserve the right to not approve draft posts that do not follow the Editorial Guidelines as outlined here.

We also reserve the right to reject submissions that are too short, contain no “news”, or posts that simply contain the date, time and location of an event. You would be surprised how many random photos get emailed to us with no information as to where it is or who is in it. Anything that you wish to have posted on TippNews should include instruction as to when you would like it to appear.

Opinion Section

As in print newspapers, the Opinion section of the TippNews DAILY is reserved for Opinion pieces that do not follow the Editorial Guidelines that our citizen journalists are held to. Opinions are posted without any editing for content (spelling/grammar) and will be editorially approved in all cases unless the post includes privacy information or offensive language.

Unlike opinion posts within a forum there will be no Anonymous posts. If someone has an opinion piece that they would like to share with Our Community, they will also have to share their full name.

Why no Anonymous postings?
One because the Editor is not going to be fielding complaints for the postings of others and two because the TippNews DAILY has a goal to demonstrate that even though Our Residents have a myriad of differing opinions, they are able to debate them as responsible and respectful adults.
