Area Businesses and Individuals Provide Vehicle for Pink Ribbon Girls

Pink Ribbon GirlsDAYTON, OH September 28 — Pink wheels are hitting the streets in Ohio. Recently, the Dayton area community pulled together to outfit Pink Ribbon Girls with a vehicle to transport breast cancer patients to medical appointments, deliver meals to women going through breast cancer treatment and to also generate awareness about the organization wherever it travels.

When Heather Salazar, Executive Director of Pink Ribbon Girls, brought the long-standing Cincinnati organization to the Dayton area, she knew that she wanted to put her background in mental health to good use by providing not only emotional support, but also tangible assistance to women fighting the battle of their lives.

The Simply Fight! and No Age No Stage programs for Pink Ribbon Girl members were formed as a result of this vision. These programs provide services such as healthy meals, childcare, transportation and housecleaning for women going through debilitating surgery and chemotherapy treatments in an effort to survive. “We are the hug after your breast cancer diagnosis,” Tracie Metzger, Founder and Director of Development, explains.

Ron and Matt Erwin from Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Troy generously donated a portion of the Pink Ribbon Girl PT Cruiser. Chris Dakin from Warrior Racing in Tipp City donated time and materials to add their special flair to the car. Thinking ahead, Pat and Thom Robinson of Troy generously stepped up to the plate with funding for maintenance and fuel. “Without the support of these businesses and individuals, this car would not be a reality,” says Heather Salazar. “We are so thankful for their passion for our mission and their belief in our organization.”

You can see the car first-hand and get to know Pink Ribbon Girls at several events in the upcoming weeks. For a complete event schedule and to learn more about Pink Ribbon Girls, visit www.pinkribbongirls.org.
