Big Brothers Big Sisters and LT Ball Partner for Kids

Tipp City, OH – Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Miami Valley (BBBSGMV) and LT Ball Intermediate School have joined together to support Tipp City children through one-to-one mentoring directly through the child’s school. Volunteers are needed to become Big Brothers and Big Sisters (mentors).

Sometimes the best place to help a child realize their potential is at school.  Through BBBSGMV and LT Ball’s school-based mentoring program, teachers or guidance counselors will identify fourth and fifth grade children who may benefit from a friendship with an extra caring adult in their lives.  These Little Brothers and Sisters will receive individualized attention and support from a volunteer Big Brother or Sister who will meet with the child for one hour a week, every week throughout the school year.  Matches play games, read to one another, work on homework, or simply talk about the challenges the Little Brother or Sister has been facing at home or school.

“Being a Big Brother or Big Sister by volunteering at a school is a great way to connect with young people who need that extra boost to use all their talents positively,” says Joseph Radelet, CEO of BBBSGMV.  “I myself am a school-based mentor.  It’s a lot of fun, and I’m making a difference in a child’s life. With the support of our volunteers, we are a force for change in our community. We are mentoring one child at a time, driving them toward success, and we invite others to join.”
