 CORS Announces Board of Trustee Appointments

PIQUA – Council on Rural Services (CORS), a non-profit organization that focuses on supporting children, individuals and families announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed two new members effective August 2014.

The current board and the staff are happy to welcome the new members; Gerald Waugh from Xenia – Greene County and William Lutz from Piqua – Miami County.

Gerald Waugh is recently retired and brings 43 years of federal service – 22 years active duty Air Force and 21 years in civil service with strengths in financial operations and reporting.  Mr. Waugh holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wayland Baptist University and a master’s degree in public administration from Central Michigan University. Gerald has also served as an Adjunct Instructor of business/accounting related courses at several universities in addition to participating in charitable causes.

William Lutz is currently the development program manager of the City of Piqua.  He brings 12 years of experience with city and township government operations along with strengths in program development, citizen engagement, public relations and economic development and expansion.  Mr. Lutz holds a bachelor’s degree in urban affairs and a master’s degree in public administration from Wright State University.  William currently serves on several boards of local and state non-profit organizations and served a two year term on Troy City Schools Board of Education.

Doug Eakin, current Board of Trustee Chairperson said, “We’re very excited to have Mr. Lutz and Mr. Waugh join our board.  We are excited to learn what their experiences and abilities will bring to our board and to our organization.”

Council on Rural Service is working to broaden the board to include engaging new community leaders to promote and support positive changes for children, youth and families.

The CORS agency administers grants and programs in a nine county (Auglaize, Champaign, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Preble, Shelby and Van Wert) area of west central Ohio.  Programs include Head Start, Early Head Start, Kids Learning Place, Gateway Youth Programs, Achievement Center for Educational Success and WIA Youth.  Also there is a volunteer program Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).  The administration office in located at 201 R.
