Ok, ok, I admit I read this series! Who else has? Everyone?!? I didn’t want to admit it at first. I read it on my Nook (Ereader) on our cruise during Spring Break. I didn’t know many people who had read it at the time and I didn’t want people to see me reading it. Then, it blew up. Everyone I knew was reading it. There were people reading it at every pool we went to this summer. My friends, who I thought never would read this type of story, admitted to me that they read it!
What is this Fifty Shades thing?? Well, it’s a story of a man who has never been in a “typical” love/sexual relationship. He is into some pretty weird (in my opinion) dominate–submissive sexual behaviors and enters into a contract with the women he is in a “relationship” with. One day he meets a women, Ana, who is different. She has never been in a sexual relationship before. However she has fallen for him and he for her. Can she withstand the type of sexual behavior or will their relationship become more “real”…???
Initially there is a shock value to the book. I admit that I knew people did this stuff but never thought that I would read about it or that people I knew would be reading about it. After you get about halfway through the second book you will find yourself more interested in Christian Grey and Ana’s relationship as well as the other plot line of the book. I found myself just skimming the sexy parts by that point – but will you???
I’m in favor of whatever type of book gets you reading. After our book club picked the first book I can say that some of the women in our group who don’t usually read are in fact reading! Hopefully this summer trilogy read can make your winter steamy!
