The Annual West Milton Police vs. West Milton Firefighters Basketball Game will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 7p.m in the Milton-Union High School Gymnasium. This is the second year for the game according to Captain Ben Herron. Last year both departments were talking about playing a basketball game against each other and they decided that raising money for a charity while doing so made perfect sense.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Union Township Food Bank (FISH). FISH services Laura, Ludlow Falls, Potsdam and West Milton. They provide emergency transportation, emergency food, (limited) emergency financial assistance and emergency referral to service agencies. To be eligible for assistance you must live in Union Township. No documents are needed and there is no fee for services provided unless you are willing to pay.

The basketball game is being sponsored by White Allen Chevrolet and the entry fee will be $5.00. Calling all the action will be Jim Sarver of the Hale-Sarver Funeral Home. Referees for the game will be Dr. William Ginn and Mr. Tom Koogler, Milton-Union Schools Athletic Director. Last year the game raised $2000. Their goal is to double that amount this year.

Playing for the Police will be Chief Gary Kimple, Adam Simpson, Mark Slater, Warren Edmondson, Tim Larger, Tracy Hendricks, Chase Underwood, Todd Cooper, Roger Davidson, Randy Shade, Randy Slusher, Ross Grove and Travis Lowry. The Fire Department Roster includes Captain Ben Herron, Nathan Dewey, Craig Foster, Josh Eickman, Adam Sowers, Dave Kakos, Ben Norrod, Robert Buckingham, Dusty Lavy, Justin Everhart, Seth Foote, Jarret Eickman, Ron Eickman, Todd Lakes and Russ Baker, with Jim Wilson coaching. The rosters are subject to change.

To receive assistance through FISH, or for more information, you can call 937-698-FISH (3474) and listen to the recording which will give you a specific number to call for the day. For more information on the basketball game, please contact Captain Ben Herron at 937-698-1500, ext 116.
