WEST MILTON – Hoffman United Methodist Church held its sixth annual Art Show July 13-15. The top three People’s Choice Awards were: first place “Blocks” by Linda Lock of Dayton, an abstract of various topics painted on small blocks; second place “Glad’s Creek” by George Stum of Tipp City, a winter scene of ice, snow and flowing water, and third place “Nostalgia” by Carol Pedan of Arcanum, light shining on old fold up wooden school desks.
There were 33 exhibitors taking part in the non-juried show with the purpose of providing a showcase for area talent of all ages.
The following participants were voted the best in each category: landscape – Opal Halderman of West Milton for “The Watergate”, a pastoral scene; still life – Sandy Cable-Barringer of Greenville for “Cat Napping”; portrait – Joshua Bellas of Troy for “Self Portrait”; use of color – Carolyn Gordon of West Milton for “Poppies in a Vase”; humor – Shari Boomershine of Vandalia for “Life is Crap”, a camping scene; nature – Chester Paulus of Troy for “Hibiscus and the Hummingbird Bird,” and abstract – Mary Reaman of Dayton for “Revolution,” a circle of vibrant colors.
The show committee would like to thank all participants as well as all who attended the show. The committee recognizes Bill Netzley of Netzley Roofing for his donation of $2,000, which funded the awards.
