Library News – March 12

While only the heartiest hikers find March weather appropriate for hitting the trails, don’t think that it’s too early to be awed by the beauty of springtime in Miami County’s Parks. Visit Tipp City Public Library this month and revel in the warmth of sunlight filtering through trees, butterflies perched upon wildflowers, and a praying mantis in glorious close-up, all presented in prize-winning entries from the “Pictures in the Park” photo contest.
More than 30 photos representing springtime in Garbry Big Woods Reserve, Greenville Falls (North and South), Charleston Falls Preserve, Hobart Urban Nature Preserve, Stillwater Prairie Reserve, the Great Miami River Recreational Trail, and Greenville Falls State Scenic River Area fill display cases on the library’s main level. The contest was sponsored by Miami County Parks District, Volunteers in Parks.
Congratulations and thanks to all of the photographers whose work will brighten the library through March, especially Kevin Bomhard who was honored with “Best of Show” for his photo, “Praying Mantis”.

FOR TODDLERS AND INFANTS
Parents with infants or toddlers can look forward to upcoming library programs planned just for them. The next lap story time for two year-olds is set for 10 a.m. on Monday, March 24. And, the next Little Ducklings story time for one year-olds is planned for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26. Registration is required and each little one must be accompanied by an adult.

SHARE A BRUNCH ON SATURDAY
There is still time to sign up for “Share a Brunch” from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 22. Participants should bring a covered-dish filled with their favorite brunch treat, and a copy of the recipe. Recipes and samples will be shared along with laughter and friendly conversation.

TAX DEADLINE APPROACHING
With only a few weeks to go before the deadline to file income tax returns, patrons are reminded that free assistance with this often dreaded chore is available through the AARP Tax-Aide Program. Trained AARP volunteers will be at the library on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Mondays from 4 to 8 p.m. through April 15. Wednesday hours are kept open for walk-ins, and assistance on Mondays is available by appointment only when you call 845-3014.
For more information about library programs and services, call 667-3626 or visit at 11 E. Main St. Find the library online at http://www.tippcitylibrary.org.
