Lisa Rogers Art at Kanoe Cafe May 1 to June 26

The current artist on display is the work of Lisa Rogers.  The artist was born in Buffalo, NY, and at a young age moved to the suburbs of Nashville, TN.  Born into a family of artists, Rogers was influenced and inspired by her surroundings early on.  Her grandfather instructed at the Neesi School of art, and was a Graphic Designer by trade.  Likewise, her father is a skilled craftsman and carpenter.  Both served as early role models, and introduced her to a world of creativity.

After completing high school, Rogers attended Middle Tennessee State University pursuing a major in Accounting.  Her deep passion for Art had never changed, and thereafter, followed her interests with the Art Institute of Atlanta.  During this transition period, she met her husband, and soon found herself moving to Indiana, in support of her husband, as he completed his medical training.  After living in Indianapolis for 9 years, she moved to the Dayton area, and has been living here for almost 2 years.

Although Rogers has had some formal training, many of her techniques are talents are self-taught.  She has engrossed herself in multiple media types, and in particular, has a deep interest in illustrating Biblical art for children.  In fact, after the loss of her second child, Rogers found therapy in art, and used her talents to write and illustrate her first children’s book.

The artist enjoys cooking and baking as well, and finds pleasure in creating recipes that not only taste great but look wonderful.

The current show is the first for Rogers in the Dayton area, and we hope you enjoy the works now on display at the Kanoe Cafe from May 1 to June 26
