Candidates for Tipp City Council were given an opportunity to speak their views and discuss their platforms at the annual Member Mixer held by the Miami County Homebuilders Association.  The event, held at the Piqua Country Club, focused on candidates for local office in Miami County.  Members met with local candidates personally to discuss one-on-one various issues ranging from local development to taxation.  The evening concluded with a presentation from each individual candidate.   In addition to candidates for office in Troy, and Concord Township, Tipp City Council Candidates Katelyn Black, Joe Gibson, Pat Hale, and Don Ochs all attended and spoke.

Each discussed their experience and qualifications and presented their vision on where they want to take Tipp City in terms of attracting business, and local development.  Candidate for City Council Bryan Budding was not in attendance.

Don Ochs noted his experience both as a prior City Council Member, and past Mayor and how this has prepared him for the challenges the city faces.  He focused on the need to develop both residential and business properties within the city and how this would bring both jobs and income for the municipality.
Katie Black speaking to the builders in the room noted how Tipp City may have the reputation among local builders of forcing them to jump through a lot of hoops to get things done, and pledged to remedy this.
Pat Hale, the lone incumbent running for re-election this year, focused on his experience as a council member and current council President, and how this has allowed him to work with both business and residential interests.
Joe Gibson stated that the Homebuilder’s Association and businesses alike should be able to work with the City, not have to contend with the City. With a good working relationship and easing of regulations, many things can get done.

The candidates now move on to the next public event, the Tipp Optimists Meet the Candidates Breakfast Meeting on October 2nd.
