LT Ball Intermediate: April Newsletter

Achievement Testing

State required Achievement testing will be April 26-29. It is extremely important that students are present and on time.  If students are absent on one of the test days, they will have to miss regular class time to make up the test.  Students who are tardy will not be admitted into the room until after that day’s test is finished.  Please understand that once your child has been handed the test booklet, they cannot leave the room.  This includes being taken out for any type of appointment.  If they are removed from the room during the test time, the booklet is turned in and they forfeit the opportunity to finish the test.  The state’s testing rules will not allow them to finish or make up partially finished tests.  As a reminder, the following tips are helpful for a successful testing session:

Your child will need:

  • To go to bed early so they will be well-rested
  • Eat a nutritious breakfast
  • Be at school on time
  • Have No. 2 pencils and a new eraser

We will celebrate the end of testing week with an Ice Cream Sundae treat on Friday afternoon for all students!

Relay for Life

We are participating in Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society’s signature event on May 7 & 8 at the Miami County Fairgrounds.  Our proceeds will be donated in memory of our district Communications Coordinator, Mrs. Kitty Lobo, and to honor our music teacher, Mr. Sharon Pfister, who is a cancer survivor. We will also be honoring and remembering the many friends and family members of our students whose lives have also been touched by cancer.

The students have already planned and organized some social/fundraising events such as BINGO and LT Ball Night at the BB Game to raise money for this worthy cause. Our next big fundraising/social event will be the Family Fun Night this Friday.

We are currently collecting donations for themed raffle baskets.  These will be available to view and purchase raffle tickets on Friday night.  LT will be having other classroom and school activities to raise funds for our team. If you know of a business or organization that might be willing to match either class donations or our school donations please call with any suggestions.  Our participation in Relay for Life has been a wonderful opportunity to involve your children in a global outreach & community service project.  It also expands on our “Cultivating Good Character Traits” Theme for this year.

Students & families are encouraged to join the Relay for Life walk with our “Pfisters’ Pfabulous Pfirebirds” team @ the fairgrounds on May 7 & 8. We appreciate all your help and support!

A Note from Food Service

Why Breakfast?  Smart Reasons to Eat Breakfast…

  • Fuels the body with nutrients. You can’t make up nutrients that you miss at breakfast.
  • Provides energy for the morning’s active play at home or at school, and gets you ready to learn
  • Kids learn better if they eat breakfast.
  • Helps keep a healthy body weight.
  • Breakfast helps control the urge to nibble or eat too big a lunch. Even with breakfast, kids may need a small morning snack.
  • Helps kids feel good.
  • Tastes good! Eat foods you enjoy – even if they are not common for breakfast.

Manage your early morning time:

  • Start making breakfast the night before. You might mix the juice, slice fruit, or make hard-cooked eggs.
  • Go to bed earlier, so you get up earlier.
  • Fill  your kitchen with quick-to-fix breakfast foods.
  • Have a variety; have choices thru the week.
  • Give yourself time to wake up. Many kids aren’t hungry right away. Wake up earlier.
  • Help with breakfast–on a morning when you’re not rushing, it’s a nice way to start your day.

Eat a good breakfast for testing week!

Landscape Beautification

Take an opportunity to visit LT Ball and enjoy our beautiful landscaping.  This is a great example of when we work hard, plan ahead and plant seeds, we reap the benefits! The same goes for studying, doing homework and organization…with testing week rapidly approaching students and teachers are going over that same concept academically.  The landscaping, school beautification project was part of our “Cultivating Good Character Traits” theme and community service project for this school year.  This fall many of our students helped during their recess time to plan, dig, weed, trim, and plant new bushes and bulbs.  This project was organized by Mrs.Conley and Mrs. Lammers.
