A HUGE Congratulation goes out to a selected group of Milton-Union High School Band Members. The MU Band had 13 members earn a spot in the prestigious OMEA District 11 Honors Band that was held Sunday, November 20 at Troy High School.

The students rehearsed all day Saturday under the direction of Dr. Brandon Jones, Director of Bands at Wittenburg University. Selections on Sunday’s concert included Manhattan Beach by John Philip Sousa, Courtly Airs and Dances by Ron Nelson, Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre, A Little Tango Music by Adam Gorb, and Joy Revisited by Frank Ticheli.

The Bulldog musicians prepared an audition recording a month ago and their recording was judged and rated against other students of like instruments from all the area high schools. The top three schools earning spots within the honors band were Tipp City (19 students), followed by Milton-Union (13 students) and Troy (10 students). The M-U Band had the second most students earn a spot in the 2011 OMEA District 11 Honors band. District 11 is made up of high schools from the counties of Miami, Shelby, Darke, and Champaign Counties.
