WEST MILTON – Two more changes have been made to the Milton-Union school building project through a special Board of Education meeting on Tuesday.

First, authorization was given to put in an irrigation system. The system will cost $42,380, and is a locally funded initiative. Treasurer Chuck Klein said that the system has been in the plans for quite a while, but the paperwork is just now getting all filled out.

A change that wasn’t in the original plan is to have Terazzo flooring in the cafetorium. Originally, there was going to be rubber flooring in the cafetorium, and Terazzo flooring in the hallways and restrooms.

But the Terazzo supplier, while laying down the floor in the hallways, offered the school a discount to go ahead and lay flooring in the cafetorium. Klein said Terazzo is more durable, easier to maintain, and nicer looking.

“This is a good deal for us,” said Klein, adding “Terazzo flooring often outlives the building it’s placed in.”
