M-U Summer Robotics Camp Sessions

For the second year in a row, we are happy to announce that Milton-Union will offer a Summer Robotics Camp.  The camp this year will focus on Renewable Energy!  The dates for this year’s camp are:

There will be FOUR different camp sessions this year. Each one is geared towards different grades and has a different theme. All of our sessions will be held in the Milton-Union Middle School Library.

July 25-July 29, 9am-11:30am

WeDo Robotics.  This session is for students in grades 2-4 ONLY.  We will build Amazing Mechanisms, Wild Animals, Giants, and Sports players.  This session focuses on programming and building.

July 25-July 29, 12:30-3:00pm

LEGO NXT Project Green Challenge – Session 1.This session, for students in grades 5 and up, will focus on the basics of LEGO NXT building and programming.  We will learn how to make our machines move, perform tasks, and work without any assistance from us.  We will also begin to work on our Project Green Challenge – building robots to solve sustainable energy projects.

August 1-August 5, 9:00am-11:30am

LEGO Simple and Motorized Machines.  This session is designed primarily for students in grades 5-8.  Working in teams, students will design and build working cars, insects, cranes, windmills, and other machines.  The real challenge is working together – each member of these teams builds one half of the robot!  These require less programming than other robots, and provide just as much fun.

August 1-August 5, 12:30-3:00pm

LEGO NXT Project Green Challenge-Part 2.  Also for students in grades 5 and up, this session will build upon the concepts learned in session 1.  We will focus on our Project Green Challenge during this week.  Students will be given a challenge and will earn an energy brick if they are successful.  Challenges include activating a wind turbine, sorting trash, and making a new smokestack – all through the programming of their robot!
