The annual Miami District Pinewood Derby was held on Saturday, February 13 at the Miami Valley Centre Mall, just outside of Sears.
Cub Scouts from 15 packs around Miami County competed in the morning championship races, as well as the afternoon open races. Winners of the championship races were Gavin Trabert (1st place – Pack 50), Sean Obrien (2nd place – Pack 365), John Chambers (3rd place – Pack 344), and Nicholas Hartman (4th place – Pack 395). Dylan Lucas of Pack 43 received the trophy for Best Design, which was determined by a vote of the participating Cub Scouts. Many thanks go to the race committee, which consisted of Al Fledderman, Don Cordonnier, Bill Mullins, Bob Zimmerman, Anthony Mullen, and Mike Lawrence, and Boy Scouts assisting were Bill Mullins III and Joey Hodge. Pack 43 donated the use of their Pinewood Derby track again this year.
