Milton-Union Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Set for January 18, 2014



The Milton-Union Athletic Department will be honoring their ninth class of Athletic Hall of Fame inductees during the Oakwood and Milton-Union basketball games on Saturday, January 18, 2014.

The induction ceremony will take place between the Oakwood and Milton-Union girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball games and will run approximately fifteen minutes.

The girls’ varsity contest starts at 6:00 p.m. and the boys’ varsity game is scheduled to tip off at 8:00 p.m.

Inductees will include Jim Hansen (Class of 1966), Kortney Krieger (Class of 1982), Chantel Van Dyke Rammel (Class of 1986) and Joe Creech (Class of 1996).

Jim Hansen – Class of 1966

• A standout athlete in three sports, Jim received 10 Varsity letters in Football, Basketball, and Track while at Milton. In Football, he was twice All-SWBL, and was All-Ohio, and a high school All-American his senior season. In Track, Jim was the SWBL Champion in the Shot Put and Discus his senior year. In Basketball, he was again All-SWBL twice and finished his career the #2 Scorer at the time of his graduation. He furthered his basketball career at Baptist College (which is now known as Charleston Southern) in South Carolina.

Kortney Krieger – Class of 1982

• Kortney was also a three sport letter winner during his M-U career, collecting Varsity M’s in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. In football, he was an All-SWBL selection at running back, and ended his career #1 on the Career Rushing Yardage list. He was SWBL Champion, District Champion and a 4th place finisher in the State Wrestling Championships in 1982. He was also a two-time All SWBL performer in Baseball.

Chantel Van Dyke Rammel – Class of 1986

• Chantel was an outstanding performer in Tennis and Fastpitch Softball during her Milton-Union career. In softball, she was her team’s Most Valuable Player, was named All-SWBL, and was All-District during her senior year in 1986. She is one of Milton’s all-time great Tennis players, as evidence by her being a three-time Tennis MVP. She was a four-time All-SRC player at first singles and appeared at the State Tennis Tournament twice. She was the career leader in Singles Victories at the time of her graduation, and was a four-year Varsity player at the University of Toledo.

Joe Creech – Class of 1996

• Joe lettered in three sports during his high school career, and was named the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1996. Joe’s remarkable wrestling career included 3 SRC Championships, an overall career record of 122-16, and his unique claim to fame is that he remains Milton-Union’s ONLY Wrestling State Champion, a feat he accomplished his senior year.

There will be a reception/banquet earlier in the afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for the inductees, families, friends and past inductees which is open to the public to be held in the auditorium of the Milton-Union High School. Milton-Union is accepting nominations for future inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Nomination forms are available at the Milton-Union Athletic Office or on the Milton-Union website at The deadline for next year’s class will be February 1, 2014.
