MILTON-UNION PUBLIC LIBRARY THANKS DONORS

Children, teens and adults are reminded that the Milton-Union Public Library’s Summer Reading Programs are currently underway.  Program materials and reading logs may be picked up at the library during regular operating hours.

All participants who complete their reading requirements will receive a small incentive and be entered to win one of several grand prizes.

“We have been very fortunate to receive numerous wonderful donations to use as encouragement for our readers who participate in our summer programs,” says Jeanette Dohner, P. R. Specialist, “There are always so many children who are excited to sign up, yet not all of them complete the program.  I’m hoping these rewards will help them stay excited about reading for fun during the summer.  One study shows that if children don’t read during that three month time frame, they lose six months worth of reading skills”

The children’s club, “One World Many Stories,” will be offering 10 grand prize packets some of which will include tickets to the Ohio Caverns, the Newport Aquarium, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum and Dayton Dragons mascot bobble-head dolls.

The teen program, “You Are Here,” has three grand prize packs up for grabs which include a $20 gift certificate to Curry’s Video Plus, tickets to King’s Island and passes to the Cincinnati Museum Center, a family membership to the Dayton Art Institute and a Dayton Dragons ball cap.

Three grand prize bundles for the adult program, “Novel Destinations,” will include tickets to the Dayton Ballet and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, an autographed 8 x 10 photo of Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis, a one-year membership with AAA of Miami Valley, a Lake Erie Island Hopping Cruise for two and a Dayton Dragons beach towel.

Dohner continues, “The library board of trustees and staff are very grateful to the following for their contributions to both the “Where’s Milty” pre-summer contest and the summer reading programs:  Curry’s Video Plus, Kohl’s Department Store, the New Friends of the Milton-Union Public Library, Indian’s Pizza, AAA of Troy, E & E’s Garage, the Newport Aquarium, Dayton Society of Natural History, Cincinnati Reds, Kings Island, Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio Caverns, Dayton Art Institute, the great wilderness adventure Tecumseh!, Vectren Dayton Air Show, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Dayton Dragons, Skateworld of Vandalia, Skateworld of Kettering/Indian Trails Miniature Golf, Armstrong Air & Space Museum, Goodtime Lake Erie Island Cruises, Dayton Ballet, Victoria Theatre Association, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Cincinnati Museum Center.  With their help we can offer our loyal readers and patrons some awesome rewards for their efforts!”

The library is located at 560 S. Main Street, West Milton and is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For more information, please visit the library, call 698-5515 or go to www.mupubliclibrary.org.
