Milton-Union Schools sponsored a Safety Camp for students Kindergarten through the 3rd grade, for the second year. The camp was June 6-10, 2011, and was put on by Deputy Todd Cooper (Miami County Sheriff’s Office-School Resource Officer), and ten High School students from the National Honor Society. Every day of the camp concentrated on safety of the children, and dangers that are out there. During the week children learned, Stranger/Danger, Bus Safety, Crosswalk Safety, Internet Safety, Fire Safety and many more. At the conclusion of the camp bicycles were given to children, as well as bicycle helmets if they did not have one. A special thanks go out to the following, because without them this camp could not have been possible, Dr. Ginny Rammel (School Superintendent), Jarrod Brumbaugh (Elementary Principal), Milton-Union Board of Education, National Honor Society Students, Village of West Milton, West Milton Fire Department, Miami County Sheriffs Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation for the grant to fund the camp.
