Milton-Union High School brought Meredith Wilson’s ‘The Music Man’ to life on April 19, 20 and 21. The performance was bittersweet, as this is the last time a musical will take place in the old high school gynmasium. Next year students and staff will present their spring musical for the first time in the new High School Cafetorium, located in the new facilites on Milton-Potsdam Road.
Marsha Fischbach directed a talented cast that ranged from seniors all the way down to a special cast member, 2-year old Elijah Chilcote. His mother, Nicole Chilcote was the Assistant Director/Choreographer. He was invited onto the stage by the high school students during a practice and has been there ever since.
Brett Weaver and Jessica Ogden shined onstage as Harold Hill and Marian Paroo. It was eveident they not only practiced endlessly to refine their parts, but put their heart and soul into the performances as well. All of the students, both high school and younger, did a spectatular job with both their speaking and singing parts. Although we will lose three cast members to graduation this year (seniors Emily Benkert, Abby August and Brett Weaver), there is little doubt audiences will be entertained for years to come by these students.
Special thanks go out to the following: Milton-Union High School, Tom Koogler, MUHS Custodial Staff, MUHS Band and Mr. Ron Duncan, West Milton Players, Troy Christian High School, Brookville Community Theatre, The Young Spirits, John Lightcap and All of the Parents.
