Eugene James Bettag age 57 of Tipp City passed away July 5, 2010 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born October 19, 1952 in Dale, Indiana. A graduate of University of Evansville and Wright State University, “Gene” taught at Chaminade-Julienne High School along with other area schools. He later worked at Spring Hill Nursery in Tipp City. For the past eight years he attended Riverside/RTI in Troy, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marianne (Warner) Bettag, daughter Megan Bettag, son David Bettag and fiancée Lindsey Poffenberger. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Bettag. He is survived by his mother, Irene (Gogel) Bettag of St. Meinrad, Indiana. Also surviving are his 6 siblings; Dan & Marianne Bettag, Ron & Dianne Bettag, Tony & Annie Bettag, Bill Bettag, Joan & Chuck Caldemeyer and Gerald & Beth Bettag. Other survivors include mother & father-in-law Myrna Lou & Harold Warner, sisters & brothers-in-law Julia & Glen Vickery, David & Marge Warner, Emily Warner & Mike Moutoux and Dan & DeeDee Warner. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews survive. The family wished to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Riverside/RTI for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation, Inc., 2304 Highland Dr., Sycamore IL 60178-9970 or to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be at the FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City Ohio at noon, Friday July 9, 2010. Funeral services will follow at 2:00PM.
