REMINDER: Spring Sports Awards at 6 p.m., May 20, in the school gymnasium.

The Tippecanoe Middle School choirs and bands traveled to Troy High School OMEA District XI Large Group Adjudicated Event on Friday, May 7. The eighth-grade choir earned a Superior Rating (I) and seventh-grade choir earned an Excellent Rating. (II). The seventh-grade band received a Superior Rating (I) and the eighth-grade band received an Excellent Rating (II). Congratulations Music Department.

As a means to enhance their curriculum, staff members at L.T. Ball Intermediate School invited Tipp City Mayor Dee Gillis to visit with the fourth-grade class. She discussed the role of local government and the rights and responsibilities of the citizens of Tipp City.

The Academy Awards pale in comparison to the 440 striking students who arrived to a “red carpet” welcome at Top of the Market in Dayton for Tippecanoe Prom 2010. Throngs of Paparazzi parents wrangled into position for the perfect photo op at the entrance to Starry Night. Many thanks to Student Senate junior class members, Mrs. Dedrick and Miss Moore for all their preparation and hard work. Prom Queen and King, Briana Schultz and Alex Short were attended by: Kylie Furst, Tricia Haley, Corey Johnson, Dan Martin, David Moore, and Morgan Stallard.

BIG THANKS to: Mrs. Jan Bishop, Mrs. Brenda Mahaney and Student Senate for a great Wellness Week. Activities leading up to Prom included the Mock Crash, “Distracted Driving” educational awareness, and the Wellness Challenge.

In spite of the down-turned economy, fourth grade entrepreneurs will open their shop doors and display their wares at the sixth annual L.T. Ball Little Mall. The public is invited to “shop locally” from 9 to 11:15 a.m., May 26, in the school cafeteria and library. This industrious activity culminates the students’ study of economics. All items are produced in the U.S.A. by talented and creative students. Shoppers are encouraged to bring small bills and loose change.

GOOD LUCK to Tippecanoe Middle School Power of the Pen team members, Madeline Bauder and Abby Graham (seventh grade), Gabbi Atwell, Andrew Puthoff, and Katherine Shirley (eighth grade). These students will travel next Friday, May 21, to The College of Wooster to compete at State Tournament!

Nevin Coppock third grade staff and students invite the public to the stage premier of, Tipp City – A Look at the Past. The students’ historical project presentations will be on display from 6 to 7 p.m., May 25, at L. T. Ball. The musical play, written by Mrs. Marilee Lake and directed by Mrs. Gail Ahmed will begin at 7:15 p.m.

More than 300 THS students and guests partied ‘til the cows came home at Red Devil Carnival 2010 – Let the Games Begin After Prom event. The ambiance was complete with striped tents, balloons, carnival games and classic food items such as funnel cakes and cotton candy. Parents managed the carnie games and a DJ kept the music alive. Prizes in excess of $7,000 were distributed throughout the evening featuring two $500 scholarships. Many thanks to Parents Who Care who sponsored the event, the many area businesses for generous donations, and staff and parents for providing a safe, fun and memorable evening for our students.
