One of the strangest things that occurred during our 10 year Capital Improvements Plan meetings was the level and depth that the committee researched the replacement of the 35 year old ladder truck.  Of all of the components of the 10 year plan, the ladder truck request was a whopper. With an estimate of $1,000,000 dollars to purchase a new 100ft. ladder truck, committee members diligently and independently researched the purchase, peppering Fire Chief Kessler with questions about why couldn’t Tipp City buy a used vehicle, or even rent one.

Over time, the committee became convinced that while refurbishing the existing truck, or buying a younger, used model may save us in the short term, we would still have to replace it (again) in another 15 years while incurring the higher maintenance costs each year.
