Spooktacular Snacks

So it is that time of year again… HALLOWEEN!! Aside from the pumpkin carving, hay rides, and spooky stories, my most favorite thing about this time of year is the snacks!! Below I am sharing an easy-to-alter recipe for quick and easy Halloween snacks  that are perfect for little helpers, and will get you into the spirit of Halloween!

Eyeball Pops:

• ·         White Chocolate(for melting)
• ·         Double Stuff Oreos
• ·         Gummy or Regular Life Savers
• ·         Mini Chocolate Chips
• ·         Popsicle Sticks
• ·         Wax or Parchment Paper

Melt your White Chocolate in the microwave in short intervals.  Make sure it is a smooth consistency. I prefer the microwave over the stove due to the fact that it is more likely to burn on the stove. While you are doing this, you can begin inserting popsicle sticks into the oreos. Make sure you are being very gentle!!

You can now dip your Oreo pops into the white chocolate, or spoon the chocolate over the cookie. Place them on parchment or wax paper to cool. While on the wax/parchment paper, place a lifesaver of your choosing in the center of the cookie, followed by a mini chocolate chip in the center of the lifesaver.

Then you can pop them into the freezer to harden. Once they are hardened, pull them out and use a knife to trim any excess chocolate around the cookie.

You can also alter the recipe to make bats as well! Just use melted dark chocolate to dip your oreo pops in and decorate with white/red sprinkles. Use construction paper to give them creepy wings! The possibilities are endless when it’s that easy!
