The Babysitter’s Training is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting video, role-plays and lively discussions. You’ll learn to be the best babysitter on the block with training in child care and first aid. Plus, you’ll gain the confidence you need to make smart decisions and stay safe in any babysitting situation. Training is for 11-15 year-olds.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Supervise children and infants
  • Perform basic child-care skills such as diapering, feeding and dressing
  • Choose safe, age-appropriate games and toys
  • Handle bedtime and discipline issues
  • Identify safety hazards and prevent injuries
  • Care for common injuries and emergencies such as choking, burns, cuts and bee stings
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Make good decisions, solve problems and stay safe
  • Find and interview for babysitting jobs

Cool take-home training materials are included with this course. Students will receive engaging new products to help them be prepared and professional including the Babysitter’s Training Handbook, Babysitter’s Training Emergency Reference Guide and the Babysitter’s Training CD-ROM. This CD-ROM provides tools to help babysitters run their own business, including a babysitter’s organizer; a printable activity booklet with games, songs and recipes; a resume template; interactive exercises to help reinforce knowledge and much more.

Also available are the Babysitter’s Training First Aid kit that holds their training materials that they receive with the class and includes first aid and safety supplies to help ensure babysitters are prepared for any emergency (sold separately for $8.00- available in class).

The American Red Cross of the Northern Miami Valley is offering a Babysitter Training Class on Saturday, April 23 at the Sidney Red Cross office, Sidney . Class is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

This course gives 11 to 15 year olds the skills and confidence to be great babysitters.

Pre-registration and pre-payment of $45 is required to attend. Participants should bring a packed lunch and snack. Call the Northern Miami Valley Chapter directly at (937) 332-1414 OR (937)492-6151 to pre-register. Space is limited.
