This is why I love social media – having a friend recommend an author to me on Facebook! That is what happened with Claire Cook. After following her on Facebook, I decided to get her new novel, Time Flies. This is the perfect book for the time of year where you want a fun book to read by the pool. However, in Ohio it has been such a cold summer that I found myself not able to wait for warm pool days as it made me laugh and keep reading!!
So what is Time Flies about??
Melanie is a middle-aged mom who followed her husband from her nice New England hometown to the suburbs of Atlanta and has raised her children only to have her husband leave her for another woman. She’s made a name for herself as a metal sculpture in the art community and finds herself cutting up her marital bed to use the box springs in her work!
Her high school friend BJ, who is on their high school reunion board, forces her to buy a ticket home for the reunion. She is forced to face her fears, including driving on highways, gets contacted by an old high school flame, has someone who is interested in more than her art work after buying a piece for his business and, of course, has and interesting time at her reunion with lots of 80s references.
Claire Cook is known for her fun, witty, women’s pool/beach reads. Can’t wait until next summer to read more books. Hopefully there will be better weather!
Enjoy!
