Adult Programs

Altered Art

The library will host a new series, Altered Art (also called repurposing), to be presented by local crafter and artist, Rose Banwart. The first session is set for Monday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. Additional programs are planned for the second Monday of October and November, also beginning at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Banwart will demonstrate how to create three different projects in two hours. Interested parties should sign-up at the library by calling 667-3826, or register at the front desk. Class size will be limited so be sure to sign up early. Definitions of altered art on the Web include: collaging, embellishing, enamelling, stamping, or doing anything else to a book or other household item to reflect a creative idea, theme, or narrative.

Sit-N-Stitch PLUS

Needlework enthusiasts can learn a new nine-inch square crochet design at Sit-N-Stitch PLUS at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Participants should bring their own yarn and matching crochet hook, and scissors.

For Youth

Grades 2 and 3

Second and third graders are invited to Celebrate National Chicken Month at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15. The event will include stories and games, all with a chicken theme. Registration is required.

Story Times

Registration Required

  • Little Ducklings Story Times – one year olds and caregivers meet at 10 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.
  • Tales for Tadpoles Story Times – two year olds and caregivers meet at 10 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
  • Busy Bookworms – ages three to five meet at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. every Tuesday in September.

Coupon Deadline

Members of the library’s reading clubs for youth who have not picked up their prize readers’ coupon packets should do so by Saturday, Sept. 18. These packets are awarded to club members who met their reading requirements by club’s end. The coupons are good for free gifts and treats from area businesses.

Dick Adams Constituent Day

State Representative Richard Adams will hold a Constituent’s Day at the Tipp City Public Library from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 18.
Representative Adams encourages his constituents, residents of Miami County and portions of Darke County, to meet him at the library, ask questions, and get an update on what is happening in Columbus.
