Tipp City Rotary Club Meeting 9.7.11

The Tipp City Rotary Club’s program at the September 7th meeting recapped the recent September 4 & 5 storm event, damage and recovery efforts.  Director of Utilities Christy Butera, P.E. spoke to the club along with City Manager Crusey.  They noted that seven power poles on CR25A were knocked down by the storm and wind event, which caused significant power outages throughout Tipp City.  Power was restored to all circuits by 2:15 Monday afternoon, though there were still isolated individual property owners without power until Tuesday afternoon.  Mutual aid from four other Ohio Public Power Communities assisted Tipp City’s Electric Department to rebuild the CR25A pole line and help restore power throughout the community.  The City used its Reverse 911 calling system to notify residents about the outages and provide updates.  To register your cell phone please go to Tipp City’s website (www.tippcityohio.gov) and click on the emergency phone notification sign up link on the right side of the page and follow the instructions.  The Street Department is continuing to remove limbs that have been placed in the curb lawn from throughout the community.  Please remember to cut the limbs into reasonable lengths to assist with removal.  Pictured are Program Chairperson Jon Cursey, and Christy Butera.
