Tipp City Schools and Tipp City Police are committed to keeping our students safe.
Wednesday a high school student found a threat that was written on toilet paper and placed it on the back of a toilet. The note stated: “School Columbine Number 2. 2-14-13. Good Luck.” School administrators contacted me and Tipp City Police. We immediately put a security plan in place. School administrators were in constant contact with the police and followed their plan all the way to which parents should be notified.
Wednesday evening police officers coordinated with the Air Force and canines were brought in to the high school building and a sweep was made. Nothing was found.
Thursday morning, Police officers were at the high school prior to students arriving preparing for the school day. A very organized plan was in place. Students were directed to an area near the entrance and were instructed to put their back packs on the sidewalk while they were sniffed by dogs. Students were then instructed to place their belongings in their locker and report to their first period class. Students were very cooperative.
The Miami County Sheriff’s officers were at Tippecanoe Middle School during the opening of school. Security was and will be heightened at all of the buildings during the rest of the school day.
The staff at Tipp City Schools is very appreciative of the Tipp City Police’s attention in this matter. Tipp City Schools and Tipp City Police are committed to keeping our schools safe.
