Tipp City teen, MVCTC student Brayden Jarrell was awarded a full-tuition, room and board scholarship to attend The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation 2013 Summer Seminar Program. He will attend Session 1 in June.

Celebrating its 27th year, the Summer Seminar, held on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo., is a national program offering an intensive visual art studio program for gifted high school juniors.

A jury of artists, which reviews hundreds of applications from across the country, select 60 participants. The jury selects the participants from CDs of original work and a written recommendation from a high school art teacher.

The Summer Seminar program allows students to gain a stronger foundation of skills and understanding of the visual arts through experiencing college-level drawing and painting classes in a group studio setting.

Students also enjoy a full schedule of evening and weekend activities. Trips are planned to draw and paint in the mountains at the Colorado College Baca campus, and sightsee in the Pikes Peak area.
