TIPP?CITY – If you love to read as Belle does, then you have learned not to judge a book by its cover. This lesson and many more are explored in the Tippecanoe High School stage production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” Bringing to life memorable characters such as Lumiere and Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chip, Gaston and Lefou, this production will bring Disney magic to audiences at the Tippecanoe Center for Performing Arts stage.
With music by Alan Menken, the composer of other Disney favorites “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” and “Pocahontas,” and with lyrics by Tim Rice, lyricist of Disney’s “The Lion King” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Beauty and the Beast” has been a family favorite for years. The show includes not only the memorable tunes such as “Be Our Guest,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Gaston,” but also seven wonderful new songs written for the stage production.
The musical welcomes back many familiar faces to the Tippecanoe stage, including senior Max Witeof as The Beast and junior Lauren Johnson as Belle. The cast also includes veteran seniors Erik Cooper, Emma Etchison, Quintin Faler, Sydney Fay, Sierra Nellessen, August O’Toole, and Kailee Tateman. They are joined by a high school cast of nearly 60 and Tippecanoe Middle School student Lydia Heddleston as Chip. Join in the Disney magic and buy tickets either at the door prior to the performance or make reservations in advance at www.tippdrama.com.
