Winter’s Yuletide Gathering: Shopkeepers and the Downtown Tipp City Partnership in Tipp are gearing up for fall and winter events. They’ve held several meetings on the “Fall Into Tipp” series of events in September and October, all leading up to the Tippecanoe HarvestFest 2009, to be held on October 31. Plans are also underway for the annual Winter’s Yuletide Gathering, to be held on November 14 and 15.  See www.visittippcity.org for more information.

Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers: The Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers Vintage Base Ball Exhibition game came off well on August 16, as more than 200 folks enjoyed a warm afternoon of “old-timey” baseball on the front lawn of the historic Willowtree Inn . . . the game was such a success that the new Tipp team has been invited down to Carillon Park to play in two more games on September 12.  See www.tippecanoecanaljumpers.com for more information.

City Council Update: Five folks are seeking the four open City Council seats coming up this fall. Pat Hale is seeking re-election, and four other candidates are running: Katelyn Black, Bryan Budding, Joseph Gibson and former mayor and city council member Don Ochs.  City Council members Vickey Blakey, Mayor Tim Evans, and Bill Beagle did not file for re-election.  Good luck to all the candidates!

Quick Bits: The Olde Tippecanoe Coffee Shop is doing a little remodeling, putting down a new tile floor . . . Studio 14, the new art gallery in the Benkins building, is featuring local historical artwork in their new show, “Historic Tippecanoe,” running through September 20 . . . and congrats go out to Jeanette Plummer of Down a Country Lane in Tipp, as she was selected to go on a five-month Antarctic expedition. She will be in a contract position with the U.S. Geological Survey. Good luck Jeanette!
