The Tippecanoe Varsity Softball Team will host its second annual Strikeout Cancer and Hit it Hard Tournament.  Games are scheduled to take place at 8 p.m., Friday, April 30, and 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Kyle Park, S. First St., Tipp City.  Admission is free, parking by donation.

According to Coach Charles Tackett, the tournament is part of a statewide campaign.  “High School softball teams pick one game,” Tackett said, “or create a tournament to promote cancer awareness.”  Donations go to the foundation of their choice.

The Lady Red Devils will host teams from Newton, Houston, Troy Christian, Dayton Christian, Milford, Harrison, and Glen Este High Schools at the upcoming tournament.

Patrons are encouraged to purchase a “Light the Way with Hope” Luminary.  Players plan to take the field by a lighted walkway.  It is a moving ceremony that pays great tribute to friends and loved ones who have battled cancer.   Luminaries may be purchased with a $10 minimum donation.  Please make checks payable to Miami County Hospice and mail to Tippecanoe Softball Program,  615 E. Kessler-Cowlesville Rd., Tipp City, OH 45371.  Please include your name, address, daytime/work telephone numbers, the name to whom the dedication is made and the quantity of luminaries.
