TIPP CITY, OH – The Downtown Tipp City Partnership is bringing baseball back to Tipp City! Vintage baseball, a popular sport throughout the Midwest, is coming to Tipp as the Kettering Clodbusters visit on August 16th at 2pm to put on a free exhibition game at the Willowtree Inn, located at 1900 W State Route 571, Tipp City, OH?. There will be ample free parking and the organizing committee is in the process of setting up for the event, so more details are to come.

The Partnership will be fielding a group of volunteers, playing under the name the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers. Vintage Base Ball is base ball (yes, it was spelled two words prior to the 1880s) played by the rules and customs of the 19th Century. The exhibition game and other events will be held to raise funds and awareness in preparation for fielding a team for the 2010 vintage baseball season.

“Reed Spencer and I have been working on this idea for a couple of years,” said Greg Enslen, team organizer and DTCP President. “We decided that the best way to grow interest in the concept would be to hold an exhibition game with another local team.” Enslen said that he and Spencer have been discussing the idea since 2006, but the time is finally right to kick off the team.
