Dan Neitzke, program host, invited Tom Hissong, the Education Coordinator of Aullwood Audubon Center, as the guest speaker at the November 10 West Milton Rotary Club meeting. Tom had spoken to the club in June about the programs and facility at Aullwood so this time he brought many pictures he has taken from the “Travels of an Ohio Naturalist.” Tom began showing his pictures from southern Ohio in Hocking Hills and Ash Cave. He commented on the flowers, prairie grass, deer, owls and the changing leaf colors. He then showed pictures of the birds in the Everglades in Florida with comments and explanations of the plants, ferns, alligators, pelicans and other unique sites. He followed with similar descriptions from Peru, Amazon to the Andes, Land of the Ice Bear, and Alaska at Night. Tom continued his picture program with Kenya Safari and Mexico—Celebration of Life. Each different location had several unique and beautiful pictures Tom has taken over the recent years in his world travels. He was able to include some local history and cultural highlights of each location. The program concluded with several questions from the Rotarians.
